By now, we all know that we all have the potential to get cancer. What is cancer though? Do we really know why it forms within us?

What is Cancer?

Cancer is a disease of cells. It is an abnormal growth of cells which tend to proliferate in an uncontrolled way and, in some cases, to metastasize (spread).

Cancer is also called malignancy. A cancerous growth or tumor is sometimes referred to as a malignant growth or tumor. A non-malignant growth or tumor is referred to as benign. Benign tumors are not cancer.

Cancer is not one disease. It is a group of more than 100 different and distinctive diseases. Cancer is NOT contagious.

Cancer can involve any tissue of the body and have many different forms in each body area. Most cancers are named for the type of cell or organ in which they start. If a cancer spreads (metastasizes), the new tumor bears the same name as the original (primary) tumor.

The frequency of a particular cancer may depend on gender. While skin cancer is the most common type of malignancy for both men and women, the second most common type in men is prostate cancer and in women, breast cancer.

Cancer frequency does not equate to cancer mortality. Skin cancers are often curable. Lung cancer is the leading cause of death from cancer for both men and women in the United States today.

Cancer is the Latin word for crab. The ancients used the word to mean a malignancy, doubtless because of the crab-like tenacity a malignant tumor sometimes seems to show in grasping the tissues it invades. Cancer may also be called malignancy, a malignant tumor, or a neoplasm (literally, a new growth).

Questionable approaches.

The approach we have taken towards the treatment of cancer has at times made no sense.

1) Surgery – This is a good approach, remove an abnormal mass and take away its power to spread. But what is often overlooked and what we have to question is, why that mass develop to begin with. There are many factors that can contribute to this, some of which we have little control over and some of which we have total control over. To reduce our chances, we have to take 100% responsibility for those factors which we can control.

2) Chemotherapy – This makes absolutely no sense at all! It is very well known that Chemotherapy kills everything in its path. Good cells and bad can all say good night! The hope here is that after the treatment, your body will regenerate the cells needed to protect itself once again. The fact that is neglected here and the reason why this makes no sense is that your cancer grew because your immune system was already in a weakened state to begin with. Now you take a weakened immune system and weaken it even further with Chemotherapy. The internal devastation being caused here can be compared to an atomic bomb being dropped on your defenses. You stand little chance to ever be normal again. Once again, we must ask, what weakened it to begin with?

3) Radiation therapy – Dido to all the above mentioned in Chemotherapy. This makes no sense at all and this treatment itself can cause cancer.

4) In recent years immunotherapy has been added to that list. Ahh…now we are heading in a more logical and common sense direction.

Getting to the Root of the problem.

What causes our immune system to weaken and our cells to break down? Here is a simple and common list of just some of the known contributors of cancer and our decision role on whether we can avoid them or not.

Stress -We can control

High Fat Diet -We can control

High Sodium Diet -We can control

Artificial Sweeteners -We can control

Sedentary Lifestyles -We can control

Consumption of food preservatives -We can control

Frequent exposure to chemicals in household cleaning products -We can control

Environmental factors (Various forms of air pollution or water contamination) -We can control to an extent. This will take a greater effort than just you alone but if each person individually takes responsibility, it can be done.

Pharmaceutical Drugs – We can control. If you have an existing condition, the question that needs to be asked is, what have I been doing to neglect the natural balance in my body’s chemistry?

There seems to be a theme here don’t you think? Looks like we have more control over our health than most people ever realize.

Conclusion

The cure for cancer or most other diseases we encounter during our lifespan start with us, our choices to do or not to do, to eat or not to eat, to use or not to use certain, things, food, and products lies 100% completely on us. The choice to be inactive vs. active or let everyday stresses overwhelm our thoughts is completely within our control. If learn to value life, our health, our worth, and take a preventative approach (Before it happens) instead of a treatment approach (After it happens) the difference in the quality of life lived by each and every one of us would be astounding. We were divinely created to be perfect and balanced, with all the internal tools needed for a long and joyful life. If we have strayed from that intended path, sicknesses and illnesses are our alert center notifications informing us that we are not going down the intended path. Our job and responsibility is to recognize the alert and properly respond to it by realigning ourselves back to a natural state.
