Health Tips So Obvious But Often Forgotten
By: Steven Meltzer
Some of my friends recently had babies. Others are just realizing that keeping off weight is harder to do with as they get older. Whatever your situation may be, here are some tips to keep you motivated and healthy.
Mind what you eat
When you’re eating, pay attention to your food. Enjoy the different textures, flavors, and smells. Take your time when eating, appreciate every minute of it. Focus on how the food makes you feel. Don’t try to distract yourself while eating with TV or phones. Distractions like these can cause you to overeat.

Cut back on emotional eating
Often times we find ourselves eating even when we’re not hungry. Stress, anxiety, and even anger can cause us to go back on any diet we’re on. In order to continue healthy weight loss, we must find other ways to cope with our emotions. Taking time to breathe and reflect on our feelings is a great way to stay on track with our goals. Listening to music or venting to friends are other ways to get rid of negative vibes.

Patience is key
Remember that losing weight is not a quick process. It takes time to lose weight in a healthy manner and keep it off. Whether you’re losing 2 pounds a week or 5, it’s still a step in the right direction. All of those pounds will add up and before you know it, you’ll be at your ideal weight.

Keep a support system close by
I’m sure many of you, like me, have friends and family that are also looking to drop some lbs. Getting a weight loss partner or gym buddy can be an amazing source of not only motivation but support as well. You’ll be able to share healthy recipes and have someone to talk to when you feel like you’re going to slip up.

Track and celebrate your progress
Although losing weight can be a slow process, celebrating every pound lost can be a great motivator. There are so many apps and fitness trackers that are perfect for visualizing your goals and results. Even keeping a handwritten journal can be extremely helpful.
Keeping all these tips in mind while on your weight loss journey will definitely help you become the healthiest and happiest version of yourself.
